Annual Conference

Each year, Christians Aware runs a Conference in January. Hosting a range of fascinating speakers, workshops, music and fellowship, we come together welcoming people of all ages and backgrounds, as well as international visitors. Themes include health and healing, reconciliation, women’s empowerment and social justice.

Christians Aware’s Conference in January 2025 was on the theme of reconciliation. We had some excellent speakers, opportunities for prayer and reflection, workshops and a service at the end of the weekend.

Our conference was an opportunity for many of us to meet each other from across the country and from overseas. Two people travelled from Kenya to be at the conference. Samuel joined in the short play during the bible study and helped during the eucharist. Humphrey contributed to the talks and discussions. Now that they are back home in Kenya they are introducing people there to Christians aware, and we look forward to receiving one or two people for the summer school, including Humphrey’s daughter. We also hope to welcome an old friend who used to work in the office, Deepak Moses from India, who is planning to join us.

As the summer school will be about lifestyle it will be vital for us to ‘share ways and wisdoms’ by learning about different lifestyles from across cultures and countries.

Another traveller to the conference was Aki Kobayashi from Japan. Aki flew all the way from Japan just for the conference, and plans to come again next year. We have known her for a long time now, since she was a student in Leicester when she introduced us to Japanese culture through special evenings. She also helped in the office and joined many events.

A surprise visitor to the conference was Bishop Mano Rumalshah. He is a long-standing member of Christians Aware. He was Bishop of Peshawar and now works in Lahore Diocese. How fortunate we were that his time in England coincided with the conference.

Our chairman Rana Khan is also from Pakistan and he was at the conference with his family. He has just given a webinar on Pakistan, prior to his journey there as part of a delegation on the 1700th anniversary of the Nicene Creed where he will speak at a conference. We look forward to news on his return.

Future webinars include one to be given by Richard Reddie on issues of racial justice. His brother Anthony was a speaker at the conference. Monica and Jonathon Doering led a seminar at the conference. They will give a webinar in early July on some of the interfaith work they are involved in.

More talks are planned for the autumn. Do send new ideas for talks and other events. Do send news.
